Please join us for an Evening at the Springfield Symphony with our good friends at the Dartmouth Club. The excellent program is pieces by Gershwin, Piston, and Rachmaninoff.

The Jazz age is in full swing with Gershwin’s An American in Paris. Rachmaninoff’s rarely heard, daring and jazzy fourth piano concerto with 1994 Tchaikovsky piano competition winner Alexander Ghindin. and America’s forgotten romantic tradition landscape with Walter Piston’s jazz influenced, lyrical and electrifying Symphony No. 4.

The Program:

Gershwin              An American in Paris
Piston                   Symphony No. 4
Rachmaninoff       Piano Concerto No. 4, Op. 40, G minor

The evening begins in the elegant Mahogany Room with a pre-concert talk by Dartmouth’s dynamic and entertaining music Professor Steve Swayne and a welcome from the SSO’s charismatic conductor, Kevin Rhodes. The talk will be followed by hearty hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. After the concert, please join us for a “Meet and Greet” with Maestro Rhodes and the soloist to wrap up a wonderful evening.
